Our eyes perceive everything. Even if we did not stop to notice the small details, the eyes will do the work for us. When the environment is crowded and heavy, our body responds immediately. Feelings like frustration and nervousness increase. When the environment is empty, the eyes look for a place to lock themselves in and do not find one. The result is discomfort and an increase in stress.
In the scientific approach we will examine how the environment affects the brain and consequently the behavior in space. For this purpose, we will differentiate between three environments:
A stimulus-free environment causes the eyes to constantly scan and the brain to find a single visual focus. The result is fatigue, discomfort and irritability.
An environment laden with visual stimuli amplifies the scans and creates increased brain activity. The result is nervousness, impatience and difficulty concentrating.
An environment in which the total stimulus is balanced and every detail serves the space. Everything is in place, every color, shape and texture will be right. The result is productivity, ease and an increase in creativity.
“Design that deals with scientific solutions raises the level of efficiency,
Creativity and relaxation in commercial and private spaces … “
Aline Nivin came to scientific design following a doctorate she did and discussed the effects of the visual environment on stress, late state and health. Today Aline uses technological tools that examine the movements of the eyes in space and scientific formulas, to understand how to change space.
Science gives us many answers. It explains why in some workplaces efficiency is high and in others low. It explains why in one auditory the learning process is carried out with greater success than in another. It helps us understand why some stores are more successful in generating sales than others.
Aline takes all the information into the process of architectural planning and design: in the office, hotel, shop and private home and adds the elegant personal touch. Beyond science, every design process is inclusive. Refers to the large and small details, floor, lighting, furniture and objects.
Alongside science and technology stands an approach which states that customers are the center of the process. Proper planning, creative solutions, familiarity with period trends and sustainability, are some of the components that give the feeling of pain at the end of the process.
The love story for design started from childhood. Aline Nivin (today the CEO of SDLAB) enjoyed painting on walls, building dollhouses and decorating them. But like most of us, she received harsh comments from her parents not to engage in .nonsense and for many years put her creativity aside
Despite many difficulties, after completing a master’s degree in biology, Aline began her doctoral dissertation at Tel Aviv University. The topic she chose to explore was “the impact of a visual environment on stress.” While researching the subject, Aline took courses in architecture, design, art history and fell in love again in the field of space change. But this time she decided to make it a profession. Shenkar’s studies in the field of interior design that were completed in doctoral dissertations together gave birth to a new design concept, which connects design, science and technology.
Today Aline runs not only a successful architectural studio, which specializes in science-based design and planning, but has also opened a design school for beginners and veteran designers who want to enrich their work with the solutions that neuroscience has to offer today.
Dear Aline, I want to say thank you for the amazing course! It is a celebration for the soul, a feeling of true happiness which will stay with me forever! I recommend anyone who is interested in interior design to study with Aline! Dive into new knowledge, learn such important things! I of course continue to the next course with Aline. Waiting for it to start!
“Science has enormous power. It allows us to build and shape any space in a way
That you put at the center the talents of everyone who enters it … “
SDLab provides interior design and architecture services, for homes, commercial areas, clinics, offices, B & Bs and hotels. Architectural services include overall work of building design. From the creation of the plans, preparation of blue -prints, submission to the Authorities and repairs to the design of the interior space.
The design offered by SDLab starts from the design itself, through the supervision to selection of the smallest elements in the structure. Home styling and space design services focus on one small space and the consulting services are suitable for those who want to design on their own, but with a clear plan.
